Hidden. Active. Deadly. The Silent Shadow have been. The Silent Shadow remain." — In-game description [11] Bloodblades are energy swords that possess red-colored plasma blades instead of blue-colored ones. They are not exclusive to a specific pattern of fireblade, as they have been seen as Meluth'qelos-pattern fireblades, [8] Pelosus-pattern fireblades, [9] [10] and two unidentified patterns. [11] [12] Usage [ edit ] The Domotos-pattern energy sword is featured in Halo 4, Halo Online, [16] and Halo 5: Guardians. The energy sword is a powerful melee weapon in close-quarters combat, capable of killing most foes with a single strike. It is a power weapon that appears on some multiplayer maps. In Halo: Reach, if an Energy Sword is put in the water, the blade becomes invisible. If the sword is placed pointing upward, the parts of the blade near the hilt are not visible, but the tips are.

During the Zeta Halo campaign in 2559- 2560, 'Vagaduun used the weapon in a combat encounter with John-117, though was defeated by the Spartan. [9] In-game information [ edit ] Halo Infinite [ edit ] Main article: Energy sword Domotos-pattern energy sword - A variant with angular contours and a rectangular hole along the inner edge of either blades, with widespread use in the Banished, [48] Jul 'Mdama's Covenant, [50] and the Swords of Sanghelios in the post-war period. [51] Unidentified energy sword pattern - A variant with a widened gap between the two blades above its hilt. [53] Within the Banished, there is no enforced uniformity for the energy sword, allowing each warrior to customize their weapons to their own needs. [10] That being said, the most common variants appear to be the Domotos-pattern and the Meluth'qelos-pattern. [48] [49] Variants [ edit ] Patterns In Halo 2: Anniversary, there is an Red Infected Energy Sword made for the Anniversary's Infection gametype.

In Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, seven Forerunner glyphs are visible on each side of the Energy Sword's hilt. The energy sword was first introduced in Halo: Combat Evolved, albeit unusable by players. It was then made available to players in Halo 2 and has become a mainstay weapon in series ever since. The energy sword is a powerful melee weapon in close-quarters combat, capable of killing most foes with a single strike. It is a power weapon that appears on some multiplayer maps. The Sangheili are very strict on who can be trained in the art of swordsmanship; in civilian life, only aristocrats are permitted to wield energy swords. [25] Sword wielders are not eligible for marriage, though they may breed with any female they choose, married or otherwise, to ensure that the genetic material which result in sword-wielding traits are properly transmitted to each subsequent generation. [4] [42] Lance of Suban - A pink energy sword infused with Blamite. The sword and the material originates from Suban. [55]

In both Halo 2 and Halo 3, the Energy Sword is a very strong anti- Flood weapon, as it will destroy Flood Combat Forms and Flood Pure Forms in one strike (although if an infected Sangheili still has its shield, it may take two or more swipes, depending on the difficulty setting). Due to its limited energy supply it's more advisable to use a Brute Shot to melee instead, as it serves the same function and cannot run out of energy. Some variants, notably the Pelosus-pattern energy sword, contain a fail-safe mechanism that can permanently disable the weapon if the Sangheili wielder drops it. [15] When dropped, the failsafe engages by deactivating the magnetic field before dispersing the plasma. The plasma then consumes the handle and thus destroys the weapon. The fail-safe is included to prevent enemy from acquiring the weapon and using it. [16] The Energy Sword is the signature weapon of the Sangheili, and has been their weapon of nobility since its creation during one of their Ages of Discovery. [5] Viewed as a holy weapon, [6] the Sangheili pride themselves on their skills with it. [7] They believe that it is better for a Sangheili to fall on his sword as an act to redeem his honor. [6] [8] [9] The Sangheili are also very strict on who can be trained in the art of swordsmanship - only aristocrats are permitted to wield Energy Swords, and sword wielders are no longer eligible for marriage. Breeding with any female they choose is permitted, married or otherwise, to ensure successful transmission of "swordsman" genes. [10] In service to the Covenant, Sangheili of a high or important rank are permitted to wield this weapon - lower ranks are not permitted to wield the sword because of its high status. [6] In the Covenant, Sangheili Ultras, Sangheili Zealots, Special Operations Sangheili, Stealth Sangheili, Sangheili High Councilors, and Sangheili Honor Guardsman are permitted to use Energy Swords. A duel between Haka 'Suukaree, who is wielding a traditional Sangheili blade weapon, and Fal 'Chavamee, who is wielding a Pelosus-pattern energy sword. The Energy Sword is efficient when used in combination with the Sprint or Evade armor ability, and deadly with Active camouflage.

The Duelist Energy Sword was carried and used by Toha 'Sumai, a renowned Sangheili blademaster. The weapon was taken from 'Sumai some time prior to March 2555, when his former-student Okro 'Vagaduun assassinated the blademaster. The weapon was used by 'Sumai to defend himself from 'Vagaduun in a martial duel done as part of 'Vagaduun's initiation into the Banished, with one of Atriox's core teachings being to reject honour and all previous loyalties. Following 'Sumai's death, 'Vagaduun retrieved the Duelist Energy Sword his former master's body and proceeded to carry it throughout his career in the Banished. [8]

In the Halo 3 ViDoc Et Tu, Brute? there is an unfinished animation depicting a Jiralhanae Chieftain wielding an energy sword. The energy sword, however, was never seen in the hands of Jiralhanae in the final game. The Type-1 Energy Weapon/Sword consists of a curved hilt, housing an energy storage module and a device for projecting the plasma which forms the blade. The actual blade is composed of two partially ionized 'blades' of free moving electron based gas held in a blade-like form by two small magnetic-field generators built into the handle of the weapon. This forms and contains the oval shaped, ionized blades for which the weapon is recognized. [4] [11] The battery's energy is reduced for each successful strike. Each killing strike from the sword will drain the battery by 10% of its energy. Once the battery power is fully depleted, the sword will deactivate unless recharged, something players couldn't do until Halo Infinite. The shape of the energy sword is very similar to the real-life combat weapon, the katar. It was a South Asian weapon and status symbol, similar to the energy sword's symbolization of status among the Sangheili. Occupants in vehicles can be killed with a sword with precise timing. This is extremely difficult to do and is not recommended in plain view. Bloodblade - A red colored energy sword, [55] [56] notably used by certain Special Operations units, [17] such as the Silent Shadow. [47] [55] Observed to be compatible with the Meluth'qelos-pattern, [57] the Pelosus-pattern, and the unidentified pattern variants. [47]The sword is fairly bright daytime unless you are in direct sunlight. During night or dimly lit rooms, the glow is amazing and really looks like an energy sword.

The dagger will also not appear if more than one player is playing on the same console. Because the Elite's fingers also do not move in splitscreen matches, the Elite will appear to use their fingers and claws instead. a b Halo Infinite, Forge - Elite Bloodblade description: "Once the personal Energy Sword of Jega 'Rdomnai—now a hard-won memento of his defeat." The Domotos-pattern fireblade is one of the many energy sword variants manufactured by the Covenant. The Domotos-pattern is characterized by its angular contour and a rectangular hole along the inner edge of either blades. [2] The design for the blade's contour likely arose during the Writ of Union, as murals recording the event in Nuusra, Sanghelios, depicted ancient San'Shyuum and ancient Sangheili sharing blades of the same design. [10] Usage [ edit ] The Duelist Energy Sword is a variant of the Meluth'qelos-pattern fireblade. It has white hilt, and its plasma blade has a deeper blue coloration. It has a lightweight frame, allowing users to be more agile in their movement. [6] [7] Usage [ edit ]
