About this deal

There’s no projector stand built in, so you’ll either need to prop up the projector to get the right angle, or you can use the thread-mount on its underside to attach it to a tripod. The latter is a good option, giving you an easy way to move and position the projector. Whether you’re gaming or watching the big game, smooth motion is crucial. The Horizon Pro delivers smoother motion thanks to its MEMC frame interpolation technology. It uses specialised algorithms to prevent image flutter, giving those fast-moving images a sharper, crisper definition. When watching any content during the day, I needed to make sure the curtains were drawn. Any excessive ambient light would cause the picture to look washed out. Switching to Performance brightness mode helps, but the extra green tint it adds made content unwatchable to me. With 1080p disc content like The Fifth Element on Super-Bit DVD, the XGIMI Horizon Pro exhibited some extra noise. (Photo Credit: Columbia Pictures) As well as the XGIMI Horizon on review here, the Horizon Pro is the same size and weight but has a native 4K resolution, rather than the Full HD resolution here. Both projectors are otherwise identical. As with XGIMI’s other projectors, the Horizon runs Android TV natively, rather than a modified version of mobile Android. The benefit of this is a smoother interface that’s designed for use with the remote control, rather than a base OS that was built for touch use.

Some thing people should know. This projector uses software keystoning, not hardware. There will be a dark grey outline around your image, this honestly does not matter and is not noticeable in use. For people looking at this for gaming, the 1080p (non pro) edition is actually faster than the 4k pro model. My one is measuring 17ms without keystoning or 67ms with keystoning, IMO this is acceptable for gaming, zero complaints using it with a switch or controller. Input Lag. With a 1080p/60 Hz Leo Bodnar lag tester, the input lag in Game image mode on the Horizon Pro measured 34.6ms. This is a bit high for any sort of competitive gaming (things like Overwatch), but is fine for solo games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In all other image modes the input lag measured 118.1ms at 1080p/60Hz, which is far too high for gaming of any sort. For the best viewing experience. we recommend using a projection size of 60-120 inches. Exceeding this range may affect the quality of your projected content. The display quality may vary based on product usage habits and environmental conditions. For crisp, dynamic sound, built in, who better than audio experts Harman Kardon to deliver. Bespoke stereo speakers produce punchy and spacious sound. Combined with DTS Studio Sound Technology, you get an immersive surround sound effect for enveloping sound. Refer to the theoretical data from XGIMI laboratories: the power saving mode is calculated based on the average power consumption of HORIZON Pro (180W) and the power of a 98-inch TV (550W), viewed 8 hours every day in one year. Brightness (light output) will vary depending on usage conditions. White light output measured in accordance with ISO 21118. The nominal value represents the average value of mass production and is tested under ideal laboratory conditions in the performance mode/high power mode.

Setting up the XGIMI HORIZON projector was a breeze. From the moment I unboxed it, I was delighted by its user-friendly design. The menus are intuitive, making it easy to navigate and customize settings to suit my preferences. This is technology that anyone can use with ease, regardless of their technical expertise. The XGIMI HORIZON 1080p FHD Projector has transformed my home entertainment experience in ways I couldn't have imagined. From its user-friendly features to its seamless integration with Android products and versatile connectivity options, this projector has truly impressed me. The projector also handles motion well, with minimal stuttering in the opening panning shot of No Time To Die. As the camera pans overhead, the trees pass by with very little judder. Here we can also see the crisp outline of characters as the menacing masked villain Safin stands in the foreground of the image with clean and well-defined edges. The Horizon Pro switches on in seconds and uses edge intelligent screen detection to automatically match your screen size with the projected image. Automatic keystone correction adjusts the vertical and horizontal alignment, giving you the perfect, custom fit for your wall.Compatible with HDR10 and HLG formats, the Horizon Pro is the ideal projector for getting the best out of your movies, games and TV broadcasts. HDR10 and HLG deliver greater brightness and contrast, for a truly life-like picture. These technologies work seamlessly to deliver a more natural picture on the big screen. There are also five different brightness modes on the Horizon Pro, although most don't drastically change the brightness. Standard, Bright, Eye Protection, and Custom were all within 68 ANSI lumens of each other (ranging from 1,131 up to 1,199 ANSI lumens in Movie image mode) with Bright being the upper boundary and Standard being the lower. The brightest mode was Performance at 1,521 lumens but it turned the image very green, as is usually the case on most projectors in the brightest setting. Android TV means support for Google Assistant, which you can use via the voice remote. You can search for or launch apps, find new content and ask general questions, such as what the weather is like.

(Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) The measured weight may vary based on configuration, manufacturing process, and measurement method. As is the case with many new lifestyle projectors, the Horizon Pro uses a LED light source that will only need minimal maintenance, if any, and never needs to be replaced. XGIMI says it outputs 2,200 ANSI lumens and can last 25,000 hours, although it's unknown at which brightness setting that light source life was measured. Over the life of the projector this is great for cost saving, as a typical lamp-based projector (such as the recently reviewed Optoma UHD35) will require multiple lamp replacements to reach the same number of hours. So while the UHD35 is initially a few hundred dollars cheaper, the costs in the long run cause it to cost more overall. Viewing. The Horizon Pro literature has 3D support listed, and I was able to get my 3D version of Ant-Man to run and display as top-bottom 3D, but I couldn't get the projector to work with my off-the-shelf DLP-Link glasses. XGIMI says a future firmware update is planned to enable 3D on the Horizon. For the best viewing experience, we recommend using a projection size of 60-150 inches. Exceeding this range may affect the quality of your projected content. The display quality may vary based on product usage habits and environmental conditions.

This small cube of a projector is a magic box that makes the Epson look old fashioned. In a dark environment the projector works out it's position digitally zooms the picture in/out, focus and applies keystone. The resulting picture is the sharpest I have seen on a projector. It looks like you are looking at a glass pane in front of a 4k TV. I can’t stress enough how significant streaming bandwidth has been to the image quality. It may be obvious that quality of the output can’t be better than quality of the input, but this is the first projector I’ve used as a TV and it took a few experiments to realize just how important internet speed is to performance, especially with a large image.

Brightness Uniformity. Screen uniformity on the Horizon Pro is very good. On my sample it measured at 86.6%, with the bottom right being the dimmest and the middle top being the brightest. There were no visible hot spots in anything that I watched.
