About this deal

Comfort is something that doesn’t necessarily reveal itself right away when you’re talking about trekking poles. At first handle, you tend to notice how your hand mates with the pole handle, how adjustable the poles are for your particular height and use, and maybe how they absorb vibration. What you can’t immediately discern is how that’s going to translate over time, or in my case, over many miles. Interchangeable baskets and tips: The “basket” is the ski-shoe type attachment above the pole’s tip. Baskets stop your pole from sinking into the ground, and they come in different types and sizes for different terrains such as soft mud and snow. Tips come in different types, too: single-point carbide tips are basically a spike and good for trails; rubber tips are better for hard surfaces and chiselled tips boost traction on slippery surfaces.

Leki decided to use a short Flex Tip results in precise pole placements and perfect grip in nearly and terrain. Adjustable length: Size really matters. You should be able to hold your elbow at a 90-degree angle when holding the pole by its hand grip. Either make sure you choose the right length for your height (specialist retailer Alpinetrek has an interactive guide to help you) or buy a fully adjustable pole. Not only can you adjust it to suit your height, but also for different needs – for example, downhill stretches need a longer pole than uphill treks. These poles also feature extended grips, with a lower secondary foam rubber section that makes it easy to choke down on a sharp ascent, without having to change the pole length. The rounded Aergon handle has been ergonomically engineered to nestle nicely in the palm. The straps are simple fabric strips, which adjust easily. Conclusion

Talířky v lehčím upraveném designu, zaručující výbornou podporu na měkkém povrchu. Kompatibilní s hroty Flex Tip. The handles, called Aergon Thermo Long Grip by Leki, are super comfortable to use. I find cork handles, which are ubiquitous on a lot of brands these days, quite irritating and abrasive over time. The foam construction on the Vario Carbon allows use without gloves and the long section with added grips means you can vary the pole height instinctively depending on your body position, without the need to stop and adjust the length.

Look out, world of walking poles – Alain’s here to shake things up. Les Baton’s d’Alain (French for ‘Alain’s poles’) are eye-catchingly bright hiking and skiing poles designed and made in the shadow of Mont Blanc in Chamonix in the French Alps by mountain guide Alain Desez.

On the plus side, the Aergon grips were comfortable to handle and were reasonably lightweight. Leki also extended the material down the shaft a bit to give you hand placement options if you’re on undulating terrain and don’t want to necessarily adjust pole length. Versatility (9 out of 10) Much of it also comes down to preference. Some people prefer the smoothness of a cork grip while other prefer the textured nature of foam. Weight The ‘Skin’ strap is very forgiving and slides on the wrist without much friction. Being wide these offer support if you like to be tied to the pole, although personally I don’t. The ‘batons’ don’t have wrist straps, which can also be safer if you take a slip on a trail. And of course, you can ski with them come winter.

Nordic walking poles: Poles designed specifically for Nordic walking tend to be fixed-length without folding mechanisms, and combine extreme lightness with super-strength to support your weight. Specialist walking pole maker Leki has a great guide to selecting the length of your Nordic walking pole. The pole is suited to a variety of weather conditions with the foam grips performing well in both warm and cold weather and with included snow baskets, the pole can be used in light snow. The ergonomic grips are made from cork, but there’s also a rubberised “extension” for added grip on steep terrain, so you get the best of both worlds. The padded wrist strap feels really secure, too. The poles come with two basket sets (including one for deep snow) and interchangeable carbide and rubber tips for when the going is soft and hard.

The best walking poles you can buy in 2023

The Leki Skin Strap is an ultra-lightweight, highly breathable strap offering maximum comfort with minimum weight that is simple to adjust. Velice lehké poutko s dobrou prodyšností, díky tomu nabízí maximální komfort při minimální hmotnosti. The Leki Micro Vario Carbon is one of the few poles to feature foam grips, as opposed to the tried and tested cork. We found the foam to be very comfortable and great to use, with the grips easily moulding to your hand shape after use. Leki also include an extended portion of foam below the grip for situations when you need to grip down the shaft or utilise a shorter pole. How much can I say about a pair of poles? They’re just poles right? Well, quite a bit where there’s good design and functionality.

Although, like all carbon poles, careful placement is still necessary, because sudden impacts are more likely to shatter carbon fibre compared to aluminium alloy. The upside is vastly reduced weight, which reduces fatigue, particularly when covering longer mileages. Now repeat step 2 but allow your arms to swing freely from the shoulder. Try not to think about what the poles are doing. Once you give trekking poles a go for the first time, you’ll soon realise the difference they make. They’re ideal for helping you manage heavier loads, whilst also offering stability and balance over some of the more technical sections of a walk. More points in the versatility department is in the ability to change the baskets of these poles. Leki have made it possible for you to switch out the standard trekking basket with a wider snow basket, making the pole suitable for ski touring, snowshoeing and general winter hiking.Leki make some of the best trekking poles in the business. They’ve been leaders in the market since 1970 and now make dedicated poles for all manner of outdoor sports, from skiing and trekking to trail running and Nordic walking. Mechanismus vyvinutý společností LEKI vyniká extrémně rychlým nastavením a upevněním také v silných rukavicích při vlhku, ledu a sněhu. Šroub má bezpečností funkci s možností nastavení. 30% menší, 25% lehčí, přes 20% více opory Walkers can really benefit from a version of the skiing technique used by Nordic walkers and skiers; if you saw cross country skiing you’ll be aware of this technique. The simplest way to learn is to find a flat piece of ground large enough to walk comfortably, a football pitch or park is ideal. As with the Micro Vario Carbon poles, they come with only one fixed basket described as a Nordic Walking basket, although they are removable so you could use other baskets if they were similar internal diameter. For a pole of this quality, an extra wide wet ground or soft snow basket would have been nice. You can buy padded tip covers for solid ground but these are not included with the poles; given the price tag, all the extras should arguably have come as standard. Summary Rychlé složení holí jedním tlačítkem ve speciální konstrukci zaručující vysokou stabilitu a bezpečnost.
