Midleton is the largest distillery in Ireland, and is home to many well-loved brands such as Jameson, Powers, Paddy, Redbreast and of course, Midleton Irish Whiskey. saw a new double-doored wooden box introduced, and a new bespoke bottle with the inclusion of the Midleton pen nib. As rumours of this ‘unicorn’ whiskey swirl around the whiskey world, these precious bottlings have become highly sought after by whiskey enthusiasts. A combination of whiskey aged between 12 and 33 years and matured in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak barrels, the Midleton Very Rare 2022 Vintage Release delights with decadent flavours and a tantalising aroma. The distillery produced a range of brands and in 1966 the company joined John Powers and John Jameson to form the Irish Distillers Group and a new distillery was built at Midleton to produce all of their brands.The finest raw materials, the most advanced techniques, a dedicated team of craftspeople – an orchestra. The latest chapter of this renowned collection is adorned with the signature of our Master Distiller, Kevin O’Gorman.

The initial herbal essence, reminiscent of fresh peppermint and sage, mingles with luscious orchard fruits and tangy orange zest. The whispers of forest spices are accentuated by the subtle touch of refined French oak, enriching the pot still spices and the floral notes of the grain whiskey in this sophisticated blend. In 1990 the bottle was changed to the new European regulation size of 700ml, while the oak boxes replaced the original cardboard cases. The Murphy family started to distil by the side of the Dungourney River, Country Cork, Ireland, in 1825. Made from sheets of gleaming copper, it was assembled and installed at Old Midleton Distillery in 1854 by local craftsmen and said to be the largest pot still in the . During this time, Barry was learning his trade from his father, Max Crockett, the ‘forefather’ of modern-day Irish whiskey. Midleton Very Rare Silent Distillery Chapter One will be the first official release from Old Midleton Distillery in 16 years and the collection represents some of the last drops of this inimitable spirit before the distillery closed its doors forever.
